Design plans for a renovated Riverside Park bandstand should be ready for the November meeting of the La Crosse park board.

Much of the bandstand area has been demolished as part of the reconstruction project.

Bandstand backer Terry Bauer of Moon Tunes told the board Thursday that he was hoping to have the designs ready for this week but it will have to wait until after a public hearing.

That hearing is scheduled for Oct. 29 at the La Crosse Public Library.

Also at the meeting, the board endorsed Bauer’s plans to sell inscribed pavers to raise money for the renovation.

The board also heard updates on the work to tear down much of the bandstand area and rebuild it.

Some soil borings may be done soon to see what may be underground at the bandshell. Jay Odegaard, of the parks department, doesn’t expect anything unusual to come from those borings.

“From what I know of Riverside Park,” Odegaard said, “a majority of it is dredge sand that was put there a long time ago, so I don’t see any concerns with the soil boring itself.”
