California Sen. Harris endorses Mitchell in Wisconsin governor’s race

She’s rumored to be a candidate for president in 2020.

Considered to be a rising star in the Democratic party. So getting California Sen. Kamala Harris’ endorsement for governor, that’s not nothing, says Democratic candidate for governor in Wisconsin, Mahlon Mitchell.

“I’m humbled and honored and just excited to have her endorsement,” Mitchell, who announced the endorsement of Harris this week, said. “And we’re trying to do everything we can to bring her to Wisconsin and have her do some campaigning with us.”

At this point in the Wisconsin governor’s race, seven of the eight remaining Democratic candidates are talking optimistically about internal polling.

They’re also all looking up at state schools superintendent Tony Evers, who appears to be way ahead of the pack.

Mitchell, the Wisconsin firefighters’ union head, says he isn’t phased by those polls.

“There’s no doubt that Tony Evers has the most name ID,” Mitchell said. “I knew that before I even got in the race.

“But come Aug. 14, we’ll see how that all shakes out. That’s the poll I really care about.”

Aug. 14 is the day of the primary with the winner facing Republican Gov. Scott Walker in the November elections.
