Festival chairman speaks about servant leadership to crowd at La Crosse library
A community conversation about electing people who are ethical, brought out a good crowd Wednesday evening.
A new group called LeaderEthics Wisconsin, formed by former Western Tech president Lee Rasch, held the event at the La Crosse library. It featured Festival Foods patriarch Dave Skogen, who said voters shouldn’t just get complacent with the things happening in government.
“We talked about people need friction to grow,” Skogen told the audience. “Perhaps our politicians need frictions from the community to grow. It may not be what they want but it’s absolutely what we all need to grow.”
Skogen added that elected leaders must keep their egos at the door and work for all citizens, including those who didn’t vote for them. He said people in leadership positions need to be humble, and recognize they have things to improve in themselves also.
