15-year-old girl dies after being thrown from one vehicle, hit by another

A 15-year-old girl from La Crosse has died in a rollover crash on I-90, a few miles outside La Crescent.

Gao Jer Vang was thrown from a Toyota RAV-4 when it went off the interstate in Winona County late Saturday night.

Vang fell onto the highway, and was hit by another vehicle.

The Minnesota State Patrol says she was not wearing a seat belt inside the RAV-4.

The 16-year-old driver of the RAV-4 apparently fell asleep at the wheel.

He and two other teenage boys were taken to Gundersen for treatment.

The driver of the vehicle which struck Vang was an Onalaska woman who was not hurt.

Vang was a sophomore at Onalaska High.  Counselors were on hand Monday for those students needing support after Vang’s death.
