ReNEW La Crosse is taking another shot Saturday on the north side.

Habitat for Humanity’s Kahya Fox hopes for better weather this time around. Last week, she was forced to cancel on the ReNEW volunteers that were ready to tackle repair and clean up projects for homeowners in the Lower Northside Depot neighborhood. She says the decision was super disappointing but necessary

“That’s the heart of a volunteer, they just want to help,” she said. “And, so when they get themselves prepared to do good in the community and we give them the, ‘Wah wah,’ the weather is bad. It was just really disappointing for people.”

Volunteers will work through June on the remaining Saturdays on the lower north side.

“We could use a few more projects,” Fox happily added.

They’re still looking for projects and urges people in that neighborhood to go to the group’s website (here) to sign up.

The group will do small repairs on homes. Fox says there’s about 20 projects to complete right now. She’d like closer to 30.
