A La Crosse man goes on trial this week for allegedly firing at two men who approached a house he was in on the south side of La Crosse last year.

Jury selection is set today for 35-year-old Damon Taylor, accused of attempted murder and other charges in the April gunfire incident on 17th St.

La Crosse police staked out the house where they thought Taylor was hiding, when two men about to go into the house were fired at from inside the building.

Police say Taylor fired at Trevongh Martin and Jonlazaire Burch, wounding Burch in the leg.

Martin reportedly fired back. Last week, Martin was sentenced to a year in prison for felony possession of a gun on a plea agreement.

The Taylor trial could last through Thursday.
