Free parking deal for MOSES decided by city committee today

What can $2,000 get you these days? In La Crosse, it could buy you free parking … for three days … in three parking ramps … for anyone.

That’s the proposal getting a decision by the city’s Board of Public Works at a meeting Tuesday morning.

The big, MOSES (Midwest Organic & Sustainable Education Service) farming conference is set to come to the La Crosse Center on Feb. 21-23. Around 4,000 are expected to attend.

The conference is the biggest one of its kind and the city is determined to keep it. It’s been at the Center for more than 25 years now.

To sweeten the pot, the Center and local Convention and Visitors Bureau will pay to have free parking in three downtown ramps during the conference. The groups have paid the city to allow free parking for the last few years.

So, the same proposal goes up this year — $1,000 from each group to keep the Main Street, Center and Market Square ramps free for all three days.
