State tax credits announced for $300 million Kwik Trip expansion in La Crosse

Big tax credits from the state of Wisconsin will help with a $300 million Kwik Trip expansion in La Crosse.
 
The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) on Wednesday has announced a plan to provide up to $21 million in state income tax credits to La Crosse-based Kwik Trip over the next five years.
 
The actual amount of tax credits the company will earn are contingent upon the number of jobs created and other factors.
 
Kwik Trip plans to add 300 jobs over the next five years with the $113 million, 200,000 square foot expansion of the company’s bread and bun production facility as well as other expansions and improvements.
 
The company’s “This will result in the purchase of additional fleet vehicles and the construction of more efficient production plants that will create higher capacity, productivity, and cost savings which will allow Kwik Trip to better accommodate the needs of our guests in the 621 stores and numerous communities we currently serve,” said John McHugh, director of Corporate Communications and Leadership Development for Kwik Trip.    
 
“Kwik Trip’s decision to expand is great news for the La Crosse region as well as the entire state,” said Mark R. Hogan, secretary and CEO of WEDC.
 
The expansion plans certainly does mean big things for the city of La Crosse, said north side city council representative Andrea Richmond.
 
“With the expansions that have gone on and the building that they’re doing, I think it’s in the best interest for everyone to appreciate the work that they have been doing and are cotinuing to do,” said Richmond.
 
Kwik Trip has plans to open 56 stores in 2017 including 36 in Wisconsin.

    Why is WALKER giving away OUR tax dollars to HIS MILLIONAIRE buddies??? THIS IS TOTAL BULL SHIT!!! KWIK TRIP is planning 30 some new stores in Wisconsin alone this yr, so there is the 300 jobs. They are getting free money from us for something they were doing any way!!@ TOTAL BULLSHIT!!!!!
