Downtown parking changes coming to an end for now

One-hour limits still exist overnight, downtown 

It will probably be the last parking change for the year in downtown La Crosse.

From ramps to the streets, the downtown has faced a myriad of changes so far this year.

The latest is dumping 30-, 60- and 90-minute parking zones in various spots around the downtown.

“We’re trying to make it as simple as possible for the consumers,” La Crosse parking utility coordinator Jim Flottmeyer said. “We decided to just make it all kind of uniform. So, it’s either a 15-minute loading zone spot or it’s two-hour parking.”

The one-hour limits will still exist overnight, downtown.

The latest change comes after the city expanded two-hour limits to seven days and instituted an entirely new parking system in the ramps, replacing the old gated system.
