Today is deadline set by La Crosse Collaborative
to End Homelessness to clear out Tent City

Someday there’ll be affordable homes for everyone in La Crosse.

At least that’s the thinking behind the movement to end homelessness in the city.

There’s hope, says city Community Development administrator Caroline Gregerson

“The city of La Crosse is definitely working on several projects to create more affordable housing – not only in the city but the entire La Crosse County,” she said.

And there’s help on the way.

“We’re going to be seeing several future developments happening in the next couple years,” she added. “We are quite relieved that we have some future development happening but I think demand is going up, too.”

Today is the deadline that Gregerson and the group La Crosse Collaborative to End Homelessness, that she’s working with to find homes for all of those camped out in La Crosse’s Tent City, just north of Riverside Park.

Tomorrow, she’s scheduled another forum in city hall to recruit willing landlords to the cause.
