Xcel pushing for rate hike
Company, ironically, expects less use in electricity.
Your bill from Xcel Energy could be another $11 a month under a proposed rate hike from the utility that will be getting a look by the Wisconsin Public Service Commission.
The utility’s rate hike request would take effect at the beginning of next year.
It includes a more than 20 percent increase in the fixed rate consumers pay for electrical service.
Ironically, the company cites less than expected use in electricity for the rate hike request.
Xcel has requested and generally received permission for a rate hike from the state for the last decade.
