Area teams compete in wrestling tournament at La Crosse Center

Bi-State Classic features 130 matches in all.

One more day of parents cheering and coaches instructing from the La Crosse Center on Friday. 

It’ll be the second day of the Bi-State Classic, featuring 60 high school wrestling teams from Minnesota and Wisconsin. 

The semifinals and wrestleback matches will be taking place in the morning with the championship and consolation finals set for 5:30 p.m. 

Area wrestlers duplicating success from last year’s event is the story so far. 

Jaden Van Maanen of La Crosse Central at 145 pounds, John Bailey of Sparta (113) and Devin Bahr (152) for West Salem/Bangor all eased through their first three matches. 

All three are looking to become back-to-back champions.

Born in Decorah Iowa. I've been a news reporter for the last 10 years, starting right out of college in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Other professional opportunities led me to Marshalltown, Iowa and Antigo Wisconsin, before I finally was afforded the opportunity here in La Crosse. I've been here since 2016.
