Snowballs chance in … Trump isn’t voted for today says one elector

The significance of today is not lost on Brian Westrate.

The Wisconsin Third District Republican Party chair is also one of the 10 electors expected to cast ballots for Donald Trump today.

It’s almost hard to believe.

“As to being an electorate, I didn’t really know what that entailed,” Westrate admitted. “Like most Americans, I understand the electoral college, but I had never before had a reason to wonder who the electors were, and I have a political science degree.”

The first time Wisconsin Republican electors have been able to pick a president since Ronald Reagan in 1984. 

Westrate is among the electors who have been receiving mountains of messages urging him to withhold his vote for Trump. But, it’s not going to happen, says Westrate.

“It is probably biologically possible I’m going to grow 3 inches in the next 10 years, but it’s highly unlikely,” he joked. “There is no universe where Donald Trump doesn’t become president on inauguration day Jan. 20.”

In order for a electoral revolt to succeed, not only would three dozen electors have to vote for somebody else, the heavily Republican Congress would have to agree.
