Council committee approved demo on Ninth St.

Gundersen Health System in La Crosse is getting the green light to remove more homes near its south side campus.

Tuesday, a city council committee has approved a request to demolish two homes on Ninth St.

One of the homes is the last remaining on a block between Tyler and Denton streets that will be parking for the Gundersen campus.

It is possible that house could be repaired and moved.

The city council last spring approved removing the other nine homes that were on the block under the condition the health system would have plans for development on the block within five years.

The full council votes on the demolitions next week.
