People dressed as clowns across U.S. creating problems

The clown phenomenon is starting to turn into a problem for police.

What started out as unnecessary calls to authorities that clowns are making people uncomfortable, by staring or simply being in public dressed up. Now, they’re threatening.

In Crookston, Minn., a 15-year-old dressed as a clown was arrested after chasing people with a large butcher’s knife Saturday.

Police are still searching for the person who posted as Billy ThaClown on Facebook that they were going to shoot up La Crosse Central High School on Friday, that ultimately cancelled school at 9:30 a.m. and postponed the homecoming football game.

In Green Bay, similar to the La Crosse situation, a 13-year-old was interviewed by police and had charges sent to juvenile authorities, after posting Sunday on Facebook threatening schools.

The post, by Henry Wood, stated: “Schools that WE will be targeting on Monday October,10,2016 are
Southwest-
East-
West-
Preble-
Washington-
Franklin-
Lombardi-
Edison-
East Depere-
West Depere-“

School wasn’t closed in the area but police presence was increased. The post was shared 400 times Sunday before being deleted. Police have ruled the threat a hoax.
