Last of 17 in meth ring caught because of a car accident
Vang had eluded police since first big bust in Oct.
He was the last of 17 to be arrested in a drug ring that was bringing meth to La Crosse from Minneapolis.
Adam Vang had eluded police for some time. La Crosse police arrested a good portion of that ring in October.
Since, others have been caught. But not Vang. Not until he got into a car accident out in Hickory, N.C., on June 22.
All that running, and it was a fender bender that brings Vang back to La Crosse and into a courtroom Monday, where his bond was set at $20,000.
Investigators say Vang personally picked up meth worth thousands per pound from Minneapolis every week to distribute in La Crosse.
Investigator Tom Johnson from the West Central MEG Unit said he thought Vang went South and told police in that very county to look out for Vang, apparently.
“I had reached out to county officials and we had shared information back and forth on a number of occasions,” Johnson said. “So, they were watching for him and attempting to find him and just happened to run into him during this crash.”
Johnson added there could still be a couple more related arrests in the near future.
