County criticized 11 years ago for spending nearly $200,000 on vehicle

La Crosse County needs a new Bearcat armored vehicle.

It received its current Bearcat in 2005, and the county was criticized for spending nearly $200,000 on it.

Next week, the sheriff’s dept. will ask a county committee for the new vehicle to respond to hazardous situations in the region.

The current Bearcat, which could be sold, has been sent to the scene of armed standoffs, and was even damaged by gunshots during one assignment in Richland County.
