City to pay $200,000 on master plan for entrance into La Crosse

Hwy. 53 corridor, Exit 3 to La Crosse River all being redone

La Crosse is on the verge of hiring a firm to help redesign much of the north side. 

Next month, the city council will vote on paying $200,000 to a firm to create a master plan on Hwy. 53 from the I-90 Exit 3 to the La Crosse River.

North side city council rep. Andrea Richmond couldn’t be more pleased.

“I’ve been the cheerleader of that Exit 3 for quite some time now,” Richmond said. “I’m encouraged that we do have this committee formed and a consultant that’s going to take a look at it.”

It’s all coming together, but not all at once, Richmond said.

But with floodplain relief on the way, the Exit 3 renovation and the Hwy. 53 corridor revamp about to get underway, it marks significant changes to that entrance into the La Crosse. 

“I think that may bring in more, new businesses, which is great for our community,” Richmond said. “It’s going to be awesome when it’s all finished,” Richmond said.
