Event raises money for Special Olympics

You may want to plan for a couple of traffic delays around the La Crosse area this morning for a Special Olympics event.

The 30th Annual Law Enforcement Torch Run Final Leg is winding through La Crosse and Onalaska.

The events, happening across the country, are held to raise awareness and money for Special Olympics.

The 8.5-run begins at 7 a.m. Here’s the route:

  • Kwik Trip at 4605 Mormon Coulee Rd.
  • West on Mormon Coulee Rd.
  • North on Losey Blvd.
  • Continue on Hwy. 16
  • Finish at Kwik Trip at 9421 Hwy. 16 in Onalaska.

Traffic will slow along this route and busier intersections may be momentarily blocked.

Local law enforcement agencies leading the run-and-bike will be carrying the Special Olympics Flame of Hope.

The event celebrates the beginning of the Special Olympics State Summer Games every year.
