Johnson to hold Congressional hearing on Tomah VA scandal
Johnson and Russ Feingold are using
the hospital as part of their election campaigns
TOMAH, Wis., — The Tomah Veterans Affairs hospital drug scandal will be in the spotlight at 10 a.m. today at a Congressional hearing.
The Senate Homeland Security Committee hearing will be held by U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson.
The problem of over-prescribed drugs for veterans at Tomah has become an issue in Johnson’s re-election campaign.
The Senator and his predecessor, Russ Feingold, are blaming each other for not doing more about the drug problem.
A deputy secretary of veterans affairs will be among the witnesses to testify.
Johnson also will issue his committee’s report on the over-prescription of opioid drugs that led to the Tomah VA being nicknamed Candy Land.
