Longfellow Middle School awarded by Apple

use “dog ate homework” excuse

Pencils and paper are a thing of the past in schools. It’s no different at Longfellow Middle School in La Crosse.

Students there are using iPads for just about everything but gym class. 

For its innovative use of computers in class, Longfellow has been named a ‘Distinguished School’ by the Apple on Monday at the Charmant Hotel.

Students said that having all their work on a computer prevents important papers from getting lost or damaged, though the dog could still chew up the iPad if need be. 

 

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
