Law would change age
requirement of rear-facing seats

New mothers and fathers should take note of a new bill likely to become law in Wisconsin.

The state senate is set to take up a bill that would increase the required age that toddlers have to sit in rear-facing car seats.

Right now, state law says children under 1 year are the requirement.

The new measure would have every toddler under the age of 2 facing the rear while riding in a car. That’s currently the recommendation of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

A recent study found children under 2 are 75 percent less likely to die or be severely injured in a car accident in a rear-facing seat.

The assembly unanimously passed the measure last month.
