Career fair today for local government jobs
Free fair at Southside Neighborhood Center
There’s good news for La Crosse: The unemployment rate here is just 4.9 percent.
So, what’s the bad news?
The bad news for La Crosse is the unemployment rate is 4.9 percent.
That’s human resources chief Steve Salerno from the La Crosse School District.
The low jobless rate can make it difficult for local government to find the right talent when work is available.
To meet that challenge, the school system has joined with the city and La Crosse County to host a career fair today at the Southside Neighborhood Center.
The free fair will permit people to apply for job openings in local government. The event goes from 3-7 p.m.
“What’s nice is, the kind of work we do, is really in service to our community,” Salerno said. “It’s everything from entry-level positions to folks with specific technical skill sets.”
