Grammy-nominated country star
Cam, along with Paslay stopped downtown

It’s not often that the folks who stop at downtown coffee shops in La Crosse get to hang out with a Grammy-nominated singer.

But fans of the country performer Cam who showed up at Grounded Specialty Coffee this morning, had their chance to meet her and take pictures.

Cam will open for Brad Paisley at tonight’s show. Online, she invited local followers to see her at Grounded Specialty Coffee on Main Street. Cam does that partly as a way to better see the places she visits on the concert tour.

“It’s a nice way to get out of the venue, out of the bus, and kind of see the town,” Cam said, “because normally everyone says, ‘Wow, you’ve been so many places in the U.S., haven’t you see so much?’ and, actually, I say, ‘No, I haven’t!.'”

Cam is nominated for a Grammy Award this month, for country solo performance. Her biggest hit, Burning House, is up for record of the year at the Academy of Country Music awards.

“It’s starting to sink in a little bit,” she said laughing, “but it still feels like I’m like a normal person and I’m accidentally going to the grammies.”

Allie is a Cam fan who wanted to be sure she and her friends got seats at Grounded.

“I had seen she was doing the coffee with cam thing at other tour stops,” she said. “And I was waiting yesterday and kept refreshing her facebook page to see if she was going to do it here, so I was excited.”

Cam wrote for Miley Cyrus and other singers before having hits of her own.

She and Eric Paslay will open for Brad Paisley tonight at the La Crosse Center.

Cam and Paslay did comment on the snowman that staff at Grounded made a few nights ago.
