Vet rated lab’s body
conditions a 1 out of 9

PORTAGE, Wis. – Authorities say someone abandoned a dog in a large duffel bag at a wildlife area in south-central Wisconsin. She was found Thursday in a French Creek Wildlife area parking lot, duffel bag zipped shut.

The female black lab suffered blunt force trauma to the head, but authorities don’t know if that happened before or after the dog was placed in the duffel bag.

The Columbia County Humane Society was called to pick up the dog and it was immediately taken to the Portage Veterinary Clinic, where her body conditions were considered a 1 out of 9, according to CCHS.

The lab has a very large mammary tumor and needed immediate attention for her head wounds. She needed 19 staples to close her head wounds, and is now on antibiotics and pain medication.

If you recognize this dog, please contact us or the Columbia County Sheriff’s Department (608.742.4166).
