Rape case from summer heads to trial

bound and forced to have sex

A rape case from last summer in La Crosse County is going to trial this week.

The trial of 40-year-old Christopher John is supposed to last through Friday.

He’s accused of holding a teenage girl captive and forcing her to have sex during a camping trip. The girl told police that John had bound her with duct tape and threatened to kill her if she told anyone about the incident.

John could get at least 25 years in prison if he’s convicted.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
