La Crosse Center board meets today to talk improvments
Building has a wish list
of $75 million in upgrades
They could give their long wish list to Santa Claus, but the management of the La Crosse Center will, more likely, have to depend on city hall for upgrades.
Center manager Art Fahey expects the city council to make decisions by next summer on how much work the La Crosse can afford for building modernization. Fahey says the priority items are pretty clear to the center board, which meets today.
Back in September, the center began prioritizing its wish list, which is compiled of potential improvement projects that totaled $75 million.
The president of the center board, Brent Smith, said that the addition of new hotels in downtown La Crosse is a driving force behind the need for improvements at the civic center, which was built in the 1980s.
