Homeowners don’t want to pay for sidewalk damage
City attorney says policy should stand
ONALASKA, Wis. – Homeowners don’t want to pay to fix sidewalks ruined by tree roots in Onalaska.
That’s on tonight’s public works agenda.
City engineer Jarrod Holter says city crews frequently find some concrete damage when they inspect each sidewalk in town every seven years.
It’s private property, but a public sidewalk and homeowners are challenging having to pay for repairs. The city attorney, however, has issued an opinion backing the current policy.
One square of sidewalk can cost around $150 to repair.
