Madison group wants cross in La Crescent removed

Group calls lighted cross and star
displayed on public land “ridiculous” 

The Freedom from Religion group out of Madison wants to see a cross come down in La Crescent. 

For that to happen, at 5 p.m. Tuesday, the group hopes to fill a town meeting at the La Crescent community center with people opposed to having a Christian symbol on public land. 

Freedom from Religion says arguments for keeping a lighted cross and star on display in La Crescent are “ridiculous.”

In turn, backers of the cross display have called the Freedom from Religion activists “intolerant.”  

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area.
