Three cows so malnourished, they had to be euthanize

It’s a different kind of cattle sale.

Fifty-two seized cattle from a farmer in the Utica, Minn., area are scheduled to be sold at a sale barn Friday.

The owner of the farm, 51-year-old Patrick Shea, was charged for six counts of animal neglect and failure to provide food, water and shelter early this month. Three cows were so sick they had to be euthanize.

Ownership was transferred to Winona County this past week, and the sale takes place through a sales commission in Lanesboro, Minn.

The Animal Humane Society assisted the sheriff’s department with the care and the welfare of the cattle after they were rescued.
