Unexpected complications delay street completion

Expected to be done Sept. 4

Two-plus months into a million dollar reconstruction of Second St. in La Crosse, and it’s not done yet.

Worse yet, it won’t be for another couple of weeks, apparently.

The city says Second St. isn’t likely to be open to traffic now until September 4th. Xcel’s work replacing gas mains and some additional electrical problems are holding up the project.

The street was supposed to be complete by now. The city began closing off parts of the street back on June 10.
