Riverside fountain could be replaced

New fountain costs around $600,000

The fountain in Riverside Park in La Crosse is a popular attraction. It’s also 12 years old and deteriorating.

La Crosse Parks and Rec director, Steve Carlyon, says it’s plastic, needs major repairs and wasn’t meant to be displayed outdoors.

The park department has plans to install an actual stone fountain at a cost around $600,000. They hope to have it installed in time for next summer.

Have you been to the fountain in La Crosse’s Riverside Park lately?  Think it looks nice?  City park director Steve Carlyon says that fountain needs major repairs.  He says it’s plastic, and wasn’t intended to be displayed outdoors.  The existing Hoeschler fountain has been in place for 12 years.  The park department has plans to install an actual stone fountain, for about 600-thousand dollars, in time for tourist visits next summer.
