Drug testing could violate federal law

A plan to have food stamp recipients drug-tested in Wisconsin looks like it may be in trouble.  Fed ag secretary Tom Vilsack this week says the plan appears to violate federal law.  Which is something Robert Kraig, from Citizen Action of Wisconsin, has been saying all along.  He says the idea was a political ploy all along,  meant to make Republicans look tough on those getting benefits.

 

 The drug-testing idea for recipients of food stamps and other benefits was put in the state budget that was signed into law this week.  Shortly after, Wisconsin’s attorney general filed a lawsuit asking a federal judge to declare the testing legal.
