Big Cuts Could Hit UW-Extension

One big hit could come out of the proposed $300 million cut to the UW System. Almost $7 million could be cut from the UW-Extension service statewide. And another $1.2 million in sharp cuts in funding for environmental education programs.
 
Dean of UW-Extension, Rick Klemme tells us that extension services statewide are working on the what to do just in case plans.
 
 
All 72 counties have at least one U-W Extension agent.
They deal with agriculture, family living, and 4-H youth programs. Klemme said it is unclear how the state cuts will affect local services like those in La Crosse.
