Biking Back In A Big Way
Been awhile since there’s been this big of a bicycle boom. That according to UW-La Crosse Associate Professor of History James Longhurst.
Longhurst has written a book, Bike Battles: A History of Sharing the American Road, which examines debates over bicycles and their place in society since the 1870s. The book argues that governments large and small have had a hand in shaping the conflicts we see on the road today. He’ll be in La Crosse Wednesday, May 20th for a bike ride and event at Pearl Street Books.
