Washington Monitoring Flouride Levels

Washington is now catching up with many cities around the U-S, in authorizing lower levels of fluoride in drinking water.  La Crosse dropped its fluoride level to the now-recommended point-7 parts per million in 2013, after a long study by the Wisconsin DNR.  Mark Johnson, who runs the city water system, is pleased that the standard has been settled:

La Crosse voters rejected fluoride in referendums during the 1950’s and 60’s, before finally approving it in 1988.  The village of Holmen voted for fluoridation several years ago, but then it was suspended for many months under orders from opponents on the village board.
