Green Light For Parklet

A green light for a little additional green on the side of the street in downtown La Crosse.  The city’s board of public works on Monday approves adding a so-called parklet on fifth avenue that will take up a parking space but also add some green and a place to sit.  More than a little grass for this parklet.   The application submitted by developer Mike Keil calls for planters that will contain lemongrass, oregano, purple coneflower, chamomile, little bluestern grass and edible kale.   The city had hoped to approve five of the parklets for the downtown this year but so far have only received this one application.
