Mental Illness Changing Direction

A program at La Crosse’s Weber Center on Monday night encouraged local

residents to fight the ‘stigma’ of mental illness.

The event marked the first community effort in the U-S to promote the Campaign to Change Direction.  Don Weber from Logistics Health in La Crosse signed onto the project when psychologist Barbara Van Dahlen asked him for assistance.  Weber does not want to repeat the avoidance of mental health issues that were faced by Vietnam vets:

Weber says changing the cultural attitude toward emotional illness will be helpful to many families, especially those with parents who are 40 or younger.
