Leon Tavern Robbed At Gunpoint

Monroe County Sheriff Scott Perkins reports the Monroe County 911 Communications Center received a 911 call of an armed robbery which took place at approximately 3:00 a.m. at the Leon Country Tavern in the Township of Leon.
A lone male suspect brandished a semi-automatic pistol to a female subject who was closing the tavern. She had went to start her vehicle when she was accosted by the suspect. The suspect forced his way into the tavern and demanded cash from the register and safe. After receiving the money the suspect fled on foot to a waiting vehicle on one of the side streets and left the area.
The subject is described as a white male, approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall with a stocky build and dark hair. He was last seen wearing a hooded sweatshirt and mask.
This matter remains under investigation by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s assistance with any information they may have on the matter.
