Suspect In Cab Driver Murder Wants Speedy Trial In Grant County

At first, he wanted a speedy trial in La Crosse County, and then changed his mind. 

Now, Timmy Johnson Junior is requesting a speedy murder trial in Grant County.  He’ll have a hearing on that motion next week in Lancaster, and his murder case still could be moved to a different county.  Johnson is charged with stealing a cab from 79-year-old Merle Forbes, and killing Forbes in the Platteville area before driving the taxi to La Crosse County, where he was arrested after a chase last June.  Johnson is set to be tried on the La Crosse County charges in March of next year.
