Police Still Counting Oktoberfest Tickets
Typical Oktoberfest in La Crosse comes with hundreds of tickets written by police, most alcohol related. Looks like that way again this year. With many more to come, well over a hundred have been tallied so far. Most of them for underage drinking. Police used extra enforcement measures around the university area to head off any significant disturbances and most of the underage tickets seem to come from that area. Police also cited several under the city’s new social hosting ordinance, which comes with an 11 hundred dollar fine. At one of those parties, one guy insisted that, since it was Oktoberfest, it was their right to party.
