Judge Says Jury Didn’t Believe Koula; Request For New Murder Trial Denied

Judge Scott Horne has turned down Koula’s motion for a new trial in the 2010 shooting deaths of his parents. Horne says Koula had a good defense team, but thinks the jury convicted the West Salem man because of lies he told. At his trial, Koula admitted to sending himself a threatening note:
The judge also rejected the continuing defense theory that a professional killer went to the wrong house in Barre Mills and shot Dennis and Merna Koula by mistake.
