Crime Victims Not Getting Paid

La Crosse County D.A., Tim Gruenke says when it comes to criminals paying

their victims court ordered restitution, the county does a good job in making sure they do. Other counties….just not the case. Though sometimes there’s nothing those counties can do. Gruenke says after probation, which money is no longer taken by corrections people, one simple judgement can hurt a victim of crime.

The Appleton Post-Crescent found that over 1000 victims in Outagamie County alone were still waiting for over $3 million in restitution that has not been paid since 1979.
