Monroe County D.A.; Kelsey Charge Was Serious One

Former Tomah alderman and mayoral candidate LeRoy Kelsey was found guilty
Thursday of felony false swearing. The charge came about when WIZM news, back in March, learned that Kelsey lied about his 1990 felony conviction on forms declaring his candidacy for public office in Tomah. He was found guilty of theft from the Sparta American Legion back in 1990. Monroe County District Attorney Kevin Chroninger tells us not matter the sentence, it was a serious charge.
Kelsey was ordered to pay a $2,500 fine plus cost and participate in up to 100 hours of community service as a $1,000 credit towards his fine. He apologized to his family and the City of Tomah in court.
