Juneau County Takes Advantage Of Free Supplies

Published

The Juneau County sheriff’s department has obtained the most free government
military supplies in the state, almost $3 million worth. The rest of the state…about $25 million. Sheriff Brent Oleson tells us that rescue boats and night-vision goggles have been a big help to his cash strapped department. He also says he’s found their mine-resistant truck has been useful in tactical situations.
The nationwide program was started in 1997 to help communities fight the war on drugs. Its use was broadened twice since then, most recently after the 9-11 terrorist attacks in 2001. President Obama wants to revaluate the program though.
