Rain Washes Out Annual Trail Opening

The Sparta Area Chamber of Commerce says the traditional 11

mile bike ride from Norwalk to Sparta today on the Elroy-Sparta bike trail is off. The DNR notified the chamber that numerous trees were down on the trail from the severe weather and the tunnel has mud and silt blocking parts of the trail. Chamber Director, Tim Hyma says a ribbon cutting will still happen at noon today…..to celebrate the thousands that will take to the trail this year.

Guest speaker, Patrick Reinsma, from the State Department of Tourism will also be on hand to talk about the huge economic impact the trail brings to the area.
