Monroe County Courthouse Bids Come In High

All that’s left for the new justice center in Monroe County to see a ground breaking is a huge vote. Judge David Rice says he will be there for that vote on April 23rd. Rice says bids were opened on Thursday for the new courthouse and jail, revealing that all 4 came in over the projected $25 million the county wanted to spend on the downtown Sparta facility. The bid went to Miron Construction at a price tag of over $26 million. If approved by the full county board, a ground breaking could take place in May.
