Kind Calls For Benefit Extension

On the first of the year, thousands of people in Wisconsin saw their

unemployment benefits cut off. On Tuesday, the U.S. Senate voted to extend those benefits for the short term. Three months. Congressman, Ron Kind on Wednesday said this short term fix was not good enough.

Congress’ Joint Economic Committee reported almost 24 thousand people in Wisconsin lost unemployment benefits this month. Kind says the program expired December 28th and Democrats have made its reauthorization a priority. Kind along with Wisconsin’s Tammy Baldwin voted for the extension. Senator Ron Johnson did not.
