Our newsroom’s top ten stories of the year include a recall election.
The attempted recall of former la Crosse city council president Audrey Kader winds up on our list at number 8. Kader became the target of the Tea Party-affiliated Restore La Crosse Committee for a number of reasons, including her perceived lack of support of former mayor Matt Harter. Which, Kader tells us, is indicative of how ridiculous the whole thing was
Only 13 percent turned out in Kader’s district for the January recall. Kader won easily with nearly 75 percent of the vote. She’s still on the council but no longer as president.
