Hit And Run Driver Gets 10 Years For Fatal Bangor Crash

A hit-and-run driver’s family asked for leniency…while the accident victim’s relatives wanted a maximum 15-year sentence.

Damien Mracek’s punishment will be in-between those extremes, at 10 years behind bars. The Holmen man was sentenced today for the crash last May that killed 75-year-old Darel Skolos of La Crosse. Judge Elliott Levine says the longer sentence was influenced by indications that Mracek tried to hide evidence from the crash.

Mracek’s attorney argued that nobody knows for sure which driver crossed the center line before that collision.
